The Palace of Versailles is a castle and historical monument located in Versailles in the Yvelines region of France. It was the main residence of the French kings Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI.

The château is made up of a complex of courtyards and buildings that preserve an architectural harmony. It covers 63,154 m2 , divided into 2,300 rooms, 1,000 of which are assigned to the National Museum of the Châteaux of Versailles and Trianon.
The park of the Palace of Versailles covers 815 hectares, compared to more than 8,000 hectares before the French Revolution, including 93 hectares of gardens. 

The Palace of Versailles is located in the north-western part of the municipality of Versailles on the Place d'Armes, 16 kilometres south-west of Paris, in France. The term "Château de Versailles" refers to both the palace building and its immediate surroundings, as well as the entire Versailles estate; the Trianons, the Grand Canal and the park of the Palace of Versailles.
